WATCH COMPLICATIONS The term watch complication refers to the display or indication of any additional time information beyond the hour, minute and second.
There are three categories of complications; the display of astronomical information, such as calendar information, the measurement of differentiated time, such as the chronograph or watches with a sound signal, such as the Minute Repeater. This last category is generally perceived as the most prestigious by watch lovers.
This differs from the so-called complicated mechanisms, such as the tourbillon, the resonance or the retrograde display for example. - To find out more ''Horopedia.org'' -

XThe Chronograph 1 Mk.2 is a new study in gentility and is a significant evolution of our first ever chronograph - incorporating its best design elements into our new Mk.2 chronograph case.
The Chronograph 1 Mk.2's rose gold main dial and black subdials lend an air of genteel refinement. Our unique thick box-sapphire glass allows for unique lightplay like never before - vibrant sophistication that shimmers in the light and a sense of sombre maturity in the shadows. The high reflectivity of the polished steel hands, markers and elements provide added depth and contrast even in low-light for better readability. For the first time in the chronograph range, a high-polish steel applique in arabic numerals is used at '12' in an art-deco font - signifying a new chapter in the design language and construction of the chronograph line-up.The Chronograph 1 Mk.2 is a new study in gentility and is a significant evolution of our first ever chronograph - incorporating its best design elements into our new Mk.2 chronograph case.

XThe Kurono Classic Reiwa introduced in December 2019 signified the birth of a new era in Japan. The reign name, Reiwa, translates to “Beautiful Harmony” and is reflected in the Kurono design with its complex two-part dial that provides a glint of metallic sophistication at the periphery - offset by the serenity of a perfect solid-colored center. This harmonious interplay of colors complement each other to accentuate the beauty of Reiwa. XThe central design feature of the watch is the unusual placement of the tachymeter scale closer to the center of the dial, intersecting with the elapsed time and seconds subdials at '3' and '9', which are finished in a concentric guilloche pattern. The new chronograph retains the key elements of the high-polished steel case and hands that Kurono is distinctively renowned for - and more importantly - also features the unique box-sapphire watch glass that leverages its higher refractive and magnification performance for enhanced light-play.Chronograph 2 was designed with light-play in mind - by blending dark dial elements with...

At '3' and '9' are contrasting elapsed time and seconds subdials respectively, finished in a concentric guilloche pattern, with the elapsed-time subdial at '9' set with a uniquely designed high-polished subhand in the shape of a traditional Japanese 'kyudo' arrow. The principles of kyudo archery are sometimes summarised as 'truth, goodness, and beauty', where truth relates to shooting with a pure mind, goodness to a person's character, beauty to gracefulness, and the refined etiquette of kyudo.(kURONO TOKYO)
XThe RM 07-04, the brand's first women's sports watch, is totally in tune with the constraints imposed by the disciplines of our sportswomen. It combines ergonomics and ultra-lightness, performance and resistance, extreme skeletonization and architectural aesthetics. With a total weight of 36 grams, strap included, the RM 07-04 is the superlative piece, the lightest, boldest and most energetic in this new range of watches.(Richard Mille)
XThree years of development were needed to create the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport and the CRMA8 caliber as many challenges had to be met: developing a new very compact and skeletonized in-house automatic movement, guaranteeing shock resistance at 5000g’s, perfectly integrating the case with the movement so the internal workings are visible. The extreme finishing magnifies the elegance of this uncompromising mechanism. The very compactness of the caliber accentuates the quality of the realization all the more as it considerably increases the assembly time by the watchmaker, for whom error is quite simply impermissible.(Richard Mille)
XManufacturing these components in grade 5 titanium with black PVD and electroplasma treatments confers great rigidity on the entire assembly, as well as precise surface flatness, essential for perfect functioning of the gear train. Grade 5 titanium is a biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant and remarkably rigid alloy, which enables the gear train to function effortlessly. The alloy is 90% grade 5 titanium, 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium.(Richard Mille)
XLimited edition of 50 pieces. Hand gestures, perhaps the most expressive form of body language, are used for sign language, certainly, but also to convey meaning beyond words, from the social conventions of greeting – the most common of which is the handshake – to more subtle cues. But the so-called devil’s horn, where the index and pinky fingers are raised as the thumb holds down the ring and middle fingers, has a particularly colourful identity. Heir to centuries of diverse traditions, beliefs and superstitions, the horn has become a cultural, social and even political phenomenon. Today, it symbolises kinship and inclusion, with a pinch of rebellion and darkness, and a guitar riff screeching in the background.(Richard Mille)
XPositioned at 12 o’clock, the flying tourbillon is a complex regulating mechanism. The distinctive feature of the so-called ‘flying’ tourbillon is that its cage is assembled without an upper bridge, creating the impression of weightlessness, and offering perfect visibility.
The free-sprung balance offers better reliability in the event of shocks or movement assembly and disassembly, and also guarantees better chronometric results over an extended period of time. The regulator index is eliminated, and a more accurate and repeatable calibration is possible thanks to 4 small, adjustable screws located directly on the balance.(Richard Mille)
XGrade 5 titanium is a biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant and remarkably rigid alloy, which enables the gear train to function effortlessly. The alloy is 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. This combination further increases the material’s mechanical properties, which explains its frequent use in the aerospace, aeronautics and automobile industries. The baseplate and bridges have been subjected to intensive and complete validation tests to optimise their resistance capacities.(Richard Mille)
XA yellow circle, two oval eyes, a wide upturned mouth … The Smiley, drawn by Franklin Loufrani just over 50 years ago, has become an established symbol in the collective consciousness. It serves as the embodiment of positivity, joy and sharing and has played a major role at the heart of pop culture across several creative generations...
X...This leading role was enough for the teams at Richard Mille to launch into the creation of an emotion-driven watch emphasising all these values.(Richard Mille)
XAround the Smiley’s radiant face, an array of miniature sculptures takes possession of the RM 88 Automatic Tourbillon Smiley’s movement, forming and reforming a surreal scene, brimming with fun and enthusiasm and demonstrating true mastery of the infinitely small...
X...Light as it may seem, the creation of this ballet was a technical challenge of the highest order. But the dream has now become reality, with attention to detail and perfection taken to the utmost, breathing life into a veritable smile mechanism.(Richard Mille)
XA profusion of colours and a combination of stones never seen before at Richard Mille characterise these timepieces. Tsavorites, flamboyant spessartine, amethysts, diamonds, spinels, rubies and sapphires conjure a magnetic alchemy.(Richard Mille)
XAn energy and talismanic spirit is linked to the ornamental dials: hematite is associated with strength, malachite with inner balance, lapis lazuli with vision, sugilite with protection, pink opal with healing, and so on.(Richard Mille)
XIn 2021, Ferrari and Richard Mille, driven by their shared quest for perfection, joined forces to create a long-term partnership. Richard Mille celebrates this budding relationship with the creation of an exceptional ultra-flat timepiece, the RM UP-01 Ferrari.(Richard Mille)
XThe Talisman collection showcases the singular qualities of these pieces through highly symbolic choices of precious stones set in geometric motifs over the entire case and dial.(Richard Mille)
XThe essential combination of beauty and elegance with technical features and attention to detail which form an integral part of the most exclusive mechanical horological creations.(Richard Mille)
XOur objective for this model was to construct a synthesis, to bring together all the experience we have gained since the creation of the brand in one watch. And it had to be spectacular, both technically and aesthetically, with finishing also of an exceptional level.(Richard Mille)
XRichard Mille has been a partner ever since the inception of Le Mans Classic in 2002 and has created the brand’s 8th model dedicated specifically to this event, a limited edition of 150 timepieces, the RM 029 Automatic Le Mans Classic.(Richard Mille)
XDay or night, this limited edition gets fans and drivers alike back where they belong - out on the circuit, crossing the legendary Le Mans black and white chequered flag in perfect time.(Richard Mille)

XThe RM 017 Tourbillon is the first and only rectangular case shape in the tourbillon range, continuing the development of the rectangular case first launched with the RM 016. Its profile is among the thinnest of the collection, representing a new visual incarnation...
X...suitable for all occasions with the same wrist-fitting curvature and taper typical of all Richard Mille creations. The RM 017’s sleek lines bear witness to Richard Mille’s extreme attention to the smallest details, reflecting an entire world of mechanical perfection.(Richard Mille)
XThe case exemplifies an uncompromising approach, with numerous stamping and machining operations required for the three main components (front bezel, back bezel and caseband). More than 18 days of machine adjustment are required as are more than 400 hours of technical research and drawing even before production can begin...
X...Each case involves 202 separate machining operations. The case of the RM 017 requires 39 swaging operations, 16 striking and 270 milling operations. Machining lasts 4 hours and 15 minutes. To complete the finishing work, an entire day is devoted to grinding, glazing and polishing each watch.(Richard Mille)
XAt first glance, no clue betrays the unusual creation inside this timepiece, except perhaps the visual layout of the hours. In each detail, part and mechanical solution, this is pure Richard Mille.(Richard Mille)
XWhen the pusher in the centre is depressed once, a slow-motion ballet begins: the sapphire glass dial begins to slowly rotate anti-clockwise as the hour hand moves clockwise, both at different speeds.(Richard Mille)
XThis fine jewellery tourbillon takes its from the swirling forms of a twisting spiral, a shape that can be found in many organic forms around us in the natural environment.(Richard Mille)
XDB25 Starry Varius, a poetic interpretation of the traditional DB25. A personalised constellation, revisited lugs and an original case compose with delightfully pure classic.(De Bethune)
XWith its distinctive roundness and its hunter case back, the DB29 immediately recalls the charm of 18th century pocket watches. It celebrates watchmaking tradition.(De Bethune)
XThe little sister of the DB25 World Traveller introduced in 2016, this new GMT model accentuates the aesthetic appeal and undeniable character of the DB25 Starry Varius.(De Bethune)
XChronograph which has become an icon, designed in 2006. A model that was pure, thanks to its principle of five hands mounted on a single central axis and controlled by a simple single pusher.(De Bethune)
XIn 2017, De Bethune decided to create an extraordinary dial with a fragment that fell from space over 4,000 years ago and landed in Argentina. Cut into a fine sliver to form the dial and manually flame-blued, this piece of meteorite was then polished and drilled to form a multitude of tiny holes inlaid with white gold spheres depicting the stars of the galaxy.(De Bethune)
XAs every year in Mexico on the Day of the Dead, the Cempasúchil blossom sings the joy of an enduring celebration. This timekeeper is the outcome of a three-way dialogue: A conversation that spans two eras, between two exceptional art engravers. The first is José Guadalupe Posada,...
X...the legendary Mexican engraver and chisel virtuoso who made the dead dance at the end of the 19th century. His work is interpreted with the contemporary talent of Swiss Art engraver Michèle Rothen, working in close concert with Denis Flageollet, master watchmaker and founder of De Bethune.(De Bethune)
XWith DW5 Armilia, De Bethune has created a fascinating work that stands as an immutable marker on the frontier between the world of art and that of watchmaking. The watch testifies to a vision of unbridled creativity, anchored in a profound understanding and respect for the great master watchmakers of the past whose work it transcends and magnifies.(De Bethune)
XIn 2018, De Bethune created a timepiece paying tribute to the finesse and extreme delicacy of the Asian engravings generally adorning bronze vases. Faithful to the spirit of Chinese engravers and poets, the delicately engraved titanium dial is hand blued and embellished with gold particles depicting a ‘choreography’ performed by the carp and dragon.(De Bethune)
XA nocturnal window on infinity, the DB28 Skybridge features a whole host of astonishing shimmering effects, in turn brilliant or intensely radiant with the blue that has been a House signature from its creation. An eminent reference to the famous 18th century clocks, this star-studded sky derives its power and beauty from its concave shape and its multiple decorations.(De Bethune)

XBreguet turns the spotlight on two new timepieces showcasing two styles but with one thing in common: the minutes hand that adopts a variety of shapes in the course of its path around the dial. Exactly what it takes to lend an additional touch of character to this iconic collection. The flexible minutes hand gracing the dial of these two new models is as admirable as it is intriguing. The magic of an ingenious mechanism enables it to change shape according to its position on the oblong dial.(Breguet)

XThis original mechanism protected by several patents was devised by Breguet. The variable-length minutes hand is composed of two arms linked at one end yet independent of each other. These arms change shape thanks to a clever set of gears. The hand thus plays with the dial by appearing in different guises when it is stretched at 12 o'clock and then more rounded at 6 o'clock. Behind the device enabling this optical game is an oval cam reminiscent of the Reine de Naples’ characteristic curves. As the minutes go by, each arm operates at a different speed. The dimensions of the hand are constantly adapted in step with its path around the dial, thus perfectly following the shape of the watch.(Breguet)

XLouis Erard extends the range of one of the flagship models of its Excellence collection, the Petite Seconde, with three colours inspired by the codes of contemporary high-end watchmaking: midnight blue, purple and ice blue. In a new 39 mm steel case.Ice blue has become a rallying point for high-end and even very high-end watches. A flashy colour to which Louis Erard adds its touch of harmony, with a hint of colour on the dark blue and polished hands, an ice blue grained calf leather strap with dark blue attachment points and its lining in blue grained calf leather. Here again, Louis Erard takes up the challenge of proving that the codes of luxury should not remain perched on unaffordable segments.(Louis Erard)

This timepiece perfectly embodies the values of fine watchmaking underlined by LOUIS ERARD: balance, excellence and refinement.(Louis Erard)
XLouis Erard continues to reinvent traditional métiers d’art with this second hand guilloché dial. Guilloché is no longer a question of decoration; it’s a subject in and of itself: a large diamond, an ace of diamonds, with a kinetic feel.
It’s no longer a question of revisiting an old aesthetic, but of putting the technique at the service of a contemporary composition.(Louis Erard)
XLouis Erard continues its odyssey at the heart of métiers d’art with Grand Feu enamel. A new interpretation of this exclusive craft already explored in 2021, which returns in a contemporary classic with subtlety.

XHublot has been supporting SORAI – Save Our Rhino Africa India –since 2019. An organisation founded by Hublot ambassador and former international cricket star Kevin Pietersen. His work helps keep rhinos threatened with extinction safe from poachers. As with the two previous limited editions, part of the proceeds from the sale of the 100 Big Bang Unico SORAI will be donated to the organisation. The colours chosen for the third limited edition are those of sunset, recalling the heightened danger faced by rhinos as night falls. Here, the sun is a symbol of hope, of a new dawn...
X...Proceeds from the sale of the Big Bang Unico SORAI will go directly to projects supported by SORAI to equip helicopters with cameras, raise awareness in schools about the consequences of poaching and to provide backup to rangers on the ground. These strategies are implemented where the need is biggest and most pressing: South Africa. The colours of daybreak: yellow, orange, purple and pink represent the hope brought by dawn, of a new day and a chance at change...
